Power line options for Rosemont mine


Tucson Electric Power announced open house information meetings on possible routes for a 138 kV power line to the proposed Rosemont copper mine. [right, TEP map of land jurisdiction and ownership in the project area]


According to the TEP announcement, "TEP is in the preliminary stages of planning for the construction and operation of new electrical transmission facilities to serve the proposed Rosemont Copper mine in the Santa Rita Mountains southeast of Tucson. The transmission line and related facilities, including a new substation at Rosemont's site, are expected to be in-service by mid-2011.

Two public information open house meetings on the project are scheduled in March. The first meeting is set for Tuesday, March 24 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Acacia Middle School, 12955 E. Colossal Cave Road in Vail. The second meeting is set for Wednesday, March 25 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the Palo Verde Room of the Canoa Hills Social Center, 3660 S. Camino del Sol in Green Valley"
